HI!
I’m Mary from the F&F boards…I just thought that it would be easier to do this here.
What do you not understand with your chart? From what I can see, It looks like you are doing a super job!
Feel free to friend me and ask any question that you might have.

Hi Mary ,
Here is my question --- about a week before i started temping . I had one day of super stretchy mucus – about 4" and i was pretty sure i had ovulated but these temps are all over the place
What do you think is happening ? Am 8 months postpartum with no cycles yet

I doubt with one day of mucus that you are ovulating yet, especially if you are still BF on demand. For some women just nursing one time a day is enough to suppress ovulation for several months.
My cycles came back at five and a half mos PP. For about two months prior I had a day here and there of EWCM, so I knew that ovulation was coming. The week before I actually ovulated (and I am pretty sure that I did, but unfortunately was not temping that week b/c we were out of town) I had 5 days in a row of constant flow of EWCM. It just would not go away. The week after that my temps had leveled out at the higher level and about 5 days later I had my first PP period.
So, I do not think that you have ovulated yet based on the temps being erratic. Before my first ovulation PP, my temps would be (as an example) day 1: 97.7, day 2: 96.7, etc. until I had ovulated and then they settled around the 97.8 mark for 5 days. So I still had a LPD but I know that I had in fact ovulated before I started to cycle again.
Hope this helps! PP charting can be difficult, but it can be done.

Just keep with it! That’s about all you can do at this point.
Pay more attention to your mucus and you will be fine, the temps will only tell you when you have ovulated.

No indication of ovulation yet, but you are having some mucus fluctuation. It may be coming in the near future.

You should put your chart in the „I’m postnatal” category. It will give you some more options for charting fertile phases. It will let you chart multiple fertile times and peaks. I forget, are you still breastfeeding at all?

Hi Mary ,
yes am still breastfeeding – three times during the day – at 6am , 1pm and 7pm as well as throughout the night
Will drop the 1pm feeding session when my son is 1 year

Man, I wish that I could get my DD to not nurse at night. She’s 20 mos and there seems to be no end in sight. Sleeping would be nice.
Ok, since you are still breastfeeding you more than likely will have a LPD when/if you get your cycles back. You might not get them back until DS actually weans totally. My mother is an example of that. So, honestly, I would not be too worried at this point. Just keep track of the mucus to see how long the fertile type lasts. If you are not feeling the slippery sensation yet with the EWCM you more than likely are not fertile. Your temperatures are also still too erratic to be normalizing out as well.
I hope this helps! I know how frustrating the return to fertility can be.

Sorry about your DD — i remember feeling like that
with oDD ..
i co-sleep with ds so breastfeeding at night is okay with me --
maybe in another couple of months i will not like it so much :-(

Yeah, we don’t co-sleep anymore. At around 14 mos we had her permanently in her own bed. She was just WAY to hot and sweaty sleeping with us and she woke up more too. I think she actually likes her bed better. But she still likes to wake up and nurse a couple of times a night.
It does look like you might actually begin to cycle here sometime soon, your mucus patterns have changed a lot. Hopefully soon we will see the temp confirmation!
